Thank you in advance for visiting my site. I'm Samantha, and the cat pictured at the top of this page is Sawyer.
In January of 2006 I adopted Sawyer from the Humane Society of New York, located at 59th Street and 2nd Avenue,
where he had lived for almost one year after being abandoned by his previous owner. Because of the Humane Society's
demonstrated compassion and dedication to its goal of constructively controlling the homeless animal population,
I have elected to raise money for this organization in connection with my entry in the 2007 ING New York City Marathon.
I decided to run the marathon, occurring on November 4, 2007, for an animal charity for two reasons. First, I want to raise money for a
population of living beings consistently overlooked in New York and throughout the rest of the world. Second, I wish to take
advantage of the opportunity to express to others the positive ways in which Sawyer has impacted my life, and — hopefully — encourage
others to adopt a pet from their local shelter.
If you have ever loved and cherished an animal companion (or known someone who has), then you will understand the importance
that even the smallest animal has in our world. It is my goal to run 26.2 miles, drawing the strength for each step from the
knowledge that my efforts will help further the cause of homeless animals in New York City and beyond.
To take part in my aspiration, please click on the “Donate” tab above to learn about a variety of ways in which to contribute.
Thank you!
